Mosrite/The Ventures

Picture
Mosrite history is an interesting one. Semi Moseley(on a part-time basis) started to build the first Moseley guitar in Bakersfield, CA in the 1950s. He had previously been an employee of Bigsby., as well as working for Rickenbacker for a little under a year.

Mr. Moseley finally worked at his passion of guitar-building full-time in the late 50s.  In 1963 The Ventures(a popular instrumental band formed in 1958) endorsed Mosrite guitars. Mosrite  Guitars had also acquired rights to Dobro and began to manufacture resonator guitars. The Ventures arrangement w/Mosrite ended in 1969 and Mosrite shut down in the same year after the Thomas Organ Co.(distributors of Vox in the USA)  ended a brief/short-lived deal with them.

Mosrite Guitars resurfaced at various times mostly in the 1970s. In the year 2000, Ed Roman from Las Vegas, purchases the Mosrite name.
